On Thursday, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) declared a prohibition on the sale of Dex Luxury bar soap in Nigeria.

This action was taken because the product contains Butyphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA).

In a statement posted on NAFDAC’s official handle on Thursday, April 11, the agency cited the European Union’s ban on the product.

The EU banned Dex Luxury soap due to its potential to harm users’ reproductive systems, endanger the health of unborn children, and cause skin sensitization.
